Announcing the Map!
Thanks to Vine, the visual mapping feature that i've been salivating about now really exists! Go to http://grouppatternlanguage.org/wagn/Complete_Map to see a picture of all the patterns and how they relate. If you click on one, it moves to the center, and you see all patterns two links out (that is, two degrees of separation). When you write or edit a pattern, all you have to do is fill out the Related Patterns section and whatever you are pointing too is automatically added to the map. Too cool, huh?! --Tree

Session in Progress in Berkeley
We've had 16 people pass through already today, in our pattern writing session. I'm psyched! Two patterns have been written by individuals already familiar with the project, while a third is in progress collectively using a laptop projector (thanks Raines)! It's been a fascinating mix of people here for short and long times, people we knew were coming and others we didn't even know had any connection here, but overall the flow-through is working. How to get email about changes
To get email about changes to something you're looking at, hover your mouse over the gray bar at the bottom of the card and click on the "watch" link that will appear in the right corner.
You can also choose to watch all cards of a given type. For example, if you want to get email whenever any pattern is edited, go to Patterns and go to the gray bar and click on "watch Pattern cards". You could do the same thing with Users.

Pattern Writing Afternoon in Berkeley Monday January 25th
Following Fabulous Facilitators (ending at 11am) on Monday January 25th we will be gathering at Berkeley Co-Housing to learn more about the project and work on writing patterns for the afternoon. You can sign up here
Bay Area pattern session Feb. 7-8, 2010
Live in California, or want to visit? Some of us are meeting up in person for two days to write patterns together. Participants are expected to already be familiar with the project (having read the intro documents on the website, at least) and ready to roll, contact Tree for more info. We'll be meeting in the East Bay at Epworth United Methodist Church. Hope to see ya there!
Pattern Languages conference in Portland
Hey folks, how often does a conference on this subject happen? Not very often! This weekend's event in Portland will have 5 of the 6 authors of the original Pattern Language present (everyone except Christopher Alexander), along with Ward Cunningham, Stuart Cowan, Doug Schuler, and others involved with a variety of pattern language efforts. Events Page Added
There is now an Events page where you are encouraged to post announcements for conferences and gatherings where you think pattern language-interested participants might be present. The idea is to support us linking up in person at events of common interest.
Open Community-Building Calls
Kaliya Hamlin is convening a series of conference calls every 2 weeks for folks to talk over the pattern language and to cooperate in writing more patterns. Open calls will be held Aug. 6 & 20, Sept. 3 & 17. See calls page for more info and to RSVP.
