Each pattern potentially relates to many other patterns. The nature of that relationship can vary over a wide range. Sometimes one pattern is a subset of another (for example, Go Meta and Go Deeper can be seen as subsets of Seeing the Forest, Seeing the Trees, although they also have other aspects). Perhaps one pattern directly supports another, or relies on another (e.g., if you want to get the Whole System in the Room, you'll need a solid Invitation). The main question we've asked in choosing related patterns is: If you are trying to do one pattern, which others will be most valuable to consult?
In order to keep the relationships to a manageable number—particularly when it comes to printing the card deck—we limit the "primary" relationships to 5-7 per pattern. There can be an unlimited number of additional "other" relationships. In both cases, we ask for short comments on how the pattern is related.
We are in the process of changing from having one, big card to describe pattern relationships to having a separate card for each relationship. There are still some patterns with relationship descriptions to move. This can be deleted now, yes? --John
We have done a first pass on adding pattern relationships and are in the process of a second pass. To propose changes, see proposed relationship changes. To review changes, see relationships changes review. Sue & Tree completed the 2nd pass on most of these; the remaining ones are posted here.

I'm thinking in most places that we show relationships (e.g. Patterns and their relationships) we want to show the primary ones and not the secodary ones. Make sense? --John Abbe
