Hi folks,
I’m writing y’all from the midst of a great pattern writing session in Berkeley. We’ve had 19 different people attending for greatly varying lengths of time ranging from brunch to two full days (including 5 newcomers recruited by Brandon, wahoo!):
Our activities have included writing about half a dozen new patterns from scratch, substantially revising and adding to a bunch more patterns, reviewing people’s work to give feedback, and getting a tutorial in our Wagn software from John Abbe. We had a well-attended further discussion on what a pattern really is, and how we engage with each other about that as our understanding evolves. And a group attempted to see whether the existing patterns could be categorized or sequenced at this time, and concluded not. Plus we engaged in "Breaking Bread Together,” even if we don’t yet agree whether that’s a Pattern or a Process. ;-)
We have been quite well hosted by Brandon here at Epworth UMC, while Raines and others provided food support and showed up with just the right ingredients at the right times. Raines also provided a laptop projector that enabled us to look at the website together to do collective learning and editing—gotta love those tech folk!
I am feeling hugely appreciative to everyone who contributed their diverse gifts. Having a bunch of people show up to work on this in person reinforces my sense that this project has value and is going to make a difference in the world. I’ll look forward to future in-person meetings.
love,
--Tree

John, is there any way to instruct the "image" template to render in a range of sizes so these can be worth uploading? --brandon
You can size an image when you include it. Edit the page to see how the examples were done.

Thanks!

Nice use of Wagn's flexibility, putting instruction text in cards before making them into image cards.

Thanks! I tried to create a cardtype called Image_invitation which provides for instructional text, the upload mechanism, and a description field, but was unable to make it all work at the same time and use it as an include. Maybe tomorrow...

What great stuff you all created together. I'm inspired by your work. I'm also curious as to how to connect this to other projects that are going on as well.

What projects, Steve, and how would you like to connect them?
