Directions to Dave's house, 340 View Royal Place, Bowen Island, from the US border, airport, train station and downtown (Granville/Georgia) Vancouver:

By car:

• From the US border or airport take highway 99N all the way north through the city of Vancouver, through Stanley Park, across the Lion's Gate Bridge to West Vancouver and all the way to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver. It's 37km from the airport (76km from the US border) and will take about 45 minutes from the airport (70 minutes from the US border after clearing customs) excluding rush-hour traffic delays. From the train station take Main St north and turn left onto the Georgia viaduct and follow the signs to 99N through Stanley Park all the way to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal (26km, 30 minutes).
• Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island. The ferry runs approximately hourly and the schedule is here. Return fare is about $30 per car and $10 per driver/passenger and the trip takes 20 minutes each way.
• When you drive off the ferry, just continue straight up the main road (Grafton Rd) for 4 km until it ends, then juts left and then right and continues as Adams Rd. Continue on Adams Rd for 1.3 km and then turn left on Sunset Rd. Continue on Sunset for 1 km. Go slow and turn onto View Royal Pl on your right just past Thompson Rd. You'll see a sign for Quarry Park on your left and stone gateposts in front of you. Proceed to the first driveway and you're there! Address is 340 View Royal Pl, call Dave at 778-788-4276 if you get lost. It's about a 10 minute drive between the ferry terminal and my house.

By bus (more fun than it looks):

• From the airport, take the Canada Line skytrain, or, from the railway station, take the Expo or Millennium Line skytrain (schedules and routemaps here) to the Vancouver City Centre/Granville station (Granville and Georgia -- station map here). Fare is $2.50 (exact change) or $3.75 if you are transferring immediately to the bus to Horseshoe Bay. Cross the street and on Georgia in front of The Bay department store catch the bus 250 (local) or 257 (express) to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Schedules are here, trip from downtown Vancouver is about 45 minutes, and fare is $3.75 (exact change needed) if you didn't transfer from the skytrain.
• Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island. The ferry runs approximately hourly and the schedule is here. Return fare is about $10 per passenger and the trip takes 20 minutes each way.
• Call me when you're on the ferry and I will pick you up. Or if you're feeling adventurous, when you walk off the ferry, the C10 bus should be waiting to pick you up at the corner on the first street on your right (Cardena, beside the library). Schedule is here. The C10 bus fare is $2.50. Ask the bus driver to drop you at the corner of Adams Rd and Sunset Rd, and also ask if he can drop you at Sunset Rd, and Thompson Rd. (not technically on the route but usually they will make the extra loop and it's much closer). Walk up Sunset Rd (about 10 minutes if you got off at Adams) and turn onto View Royal Pl on your right just past Thompson Rd. You'll see a sign for Quarry Park on your left and stone gateposts in front of you. Proceed to the first driveway and you're there!
