  • Below are both events we've organized for ourselves, and other events where some of us might gather to work on this pattern language.

    Future

July 18-21 on Bowen Island at Dave Pollard's house, contact Daniel Lindenberger for more info.

October 4 is Christopher Alexander's birthday (1936).  We think we should do something to celebrate!  What are your ideas?  Add 'em here.

NCDD is holding shorter regional conferences this fall instead of one big national event.  Events include Oct. 29 in Cupertino, CA and Nov. 13 in Portland, OR.  Who wants to get involved?

5th Annual International Conference on "ENGAGING THE OTHER: The Power of Compassion":  November 19-21, 2010 in San Francisco Bay Area (Rohnert Park), CA.  Anyone going to this one?

Next call:  None Scheduled, anyone want to convene something?

February 26, 2010, 1:30-3:00PM (west coast time) — on the phone/net — The first of perhaps many virtual gatherings for people to do "show & tell" on patterns they've worked on, and for us to collectively contemplate one or more patterns. We looked at Accordion, and made some edits and added some thughts to the discussion there.

    Presenting: Kaliya & Nancy

Attended: John Abbe, Tree Bressen, Malcolm Best, Kaliya Hamlin, Nancy Glock-Grueneich

February 7-8, 2010 — Berkeley, CA — About 10 of us are planning to meet up in person for two days to write patterns together.  Participants are expected to already be familiar with the project (at least having read some main docs on the website) and ready to roll, contact Tree for more info.  We're starting with Sunday brunch 11am at Fat Apples, then meeting the rest of the time at Epworth United Methodist Church.  Hope to see ya there!

It was great - see this news item: Session in Progress in Berkeley

January 25th, 2010 following Fabulous Facilitators (9-11am) in Berkeley.  Kaliya Hamlin will be supporting the conversation and Raines Cohen has offered the location at Berkeley Co-Housing Community until 4pm.  Think of this as a warmup for pattern writing when Tree comes to town in February. Please register here.

January 15-17, 2010 — San Francisco — Open Space on Open Space. There is talk of some folks possibly meeting up before or after to write patterns together.  Contact Kaliya Hamlin for more info.
