Hosting+pattern relationship descriptions - Pattern Language of Group Process

The on-site part of hosting starts with Opening and Welcome. Then a container is created by some combination of the host, sponsor, facilitator, etc.

Breaking Bread Together is an obvious part of hosting — everyone must eat, and doing so together presents an opportunity to nurture participants' sense of togetherness.

Aesthetics of Space is another part of hosting: the creation of a physical setting that appeals to the senses, puts our instincts at ease, and shows that someone cares.

Tending Relationships is central to hosting, keeping connections among people and among subgroups open and strong.
